Newest CyanogenMod 10 Nightly ROM released, brings Android 4.1.2
For those of you that roll with a custom CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) AOSP ROM, today’s Nightly release (Oct. 10) comes with a slew of merged updates, including bringing your device up to Android 4.1.2. Those fine folks over at CyanogenMod sure do work quickly. If you remember, it was just yesterday that 4.1.2 was released to AOSP and began rolling out to the Nexus 7 via OTA.
Unfortunately we were only hit with the requisite “improves performance and stability and fixes bugs” change log from Google, and pouring through all that developer jargon in the official commit logs can be daunting in figuring out what has been changed or updated. Additionally, it’s still a little early to gain any takeaways from real-world testing of 4.1.2. However, based on a few lines in the commit logs we can see that one particular bug in 4.1.1 with “failing to connect to WPA enterprise wireless” has been addressed in 4.1.2. There also seems to be a few mentions of the browser, audio, camera, the kernel itself, and a slew of other updates.
If you’re on a recent CM10 release (within the past week), you can grab today’s release containing 4.1.2 from right there within your ROM by navigating to the CM Updater (Settings > About Phone > CyanogenMod updates). Otherwise you can grab it from your favorite source. If you’re new to the CM10 custom ROM scene and like what you hear, you can navigate to their site to read up on their AOSP custom ROMs for a multitude of devices.
ASUS releases official Jelly Bean ROMs for Transformer Prime and Infinity
When the Transformer Prime launched, it was the first tablet to ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and now it’s one of the first devices to receive Jelly Bean along with the Transformer Pad Infinity.
If you are one of the many folks who regularly modify your device with ROM’s and tweaks by unlocking the bootloader, you probably noticed that you did not receive the OTA update. However, ASUS brings good news as the company released the full official Jelly Bean ROMs on the their website.
This means that all you will have to do is download the file, place it on your device’s storage, and then flash the .zip. It’s the same process that you would perform with any other ROM. They are offering both “worldwide and US exclusive” downloads, so make sure you select the right software to install.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean update leaked
Over the weekend XDA forum member freeza posted information about a leaked build of Sprint’s pending Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S III devices. The leaked ROM includes Samsung’s custom TouchWiz interface. Unfortunately, it also includes a few items not quite working right like the stock browser, Google Now and some issues with the device’s gyroscope sensor. Nevertheless, it is clear that build JRO03L is close to complete, which means we may see it rolling out to users soon.
If you are not willing to wait for Sprint to make it available and you can live with the issues, you can hit the source link to pull down the leaked file or one of the custom ROMs the XDA community has already generated. Trying out any of these is subject to the usual warnings about messing up your device.
For those content to wait for the update via Sprint, hopefully this leak may help create some pressure for Samsung and Sprint to accelerate their schedule a bit.

Verizon Wireless Galaxy S III gets a ported TouchWiz Jelly Bean ROM
With the Jelly Bean update launching soon for the international Samsung Galaxy S III, it’s created envy for U.S. users. Thankfully XDA member remf4i posted a ported version for the Verizon version. It’s actually from a T-Mobile build, and it’s called ToUcHmYbEaNs RoM.
Of course with any ported ROM, there are always issues. For now the GPS is not showing directions and when setting the wallpaper by holding the homecreen, it force closes the gallery. However, you can set it by going directly into the gallery. We’ve seen a lot worse.
Just hit the source link below to get started.

CyanogenMod Team Announces “M-Series”, Monthly Releases Of Its Experimental Builds
Those of you looking to get an even bigger CyanogenMod fix are now in luck as the fine development team has announced a new series of the CM releases called “M-Series”. These experimental builds will be released on a monthly schedule, similar to the experimental nightly builds released on a nightly schedule. This action will be done until the build reaches the stable release phase, allowing for users to then be able to enjoy all those new experimental features and goodies.
At the moment, the “M-Series” ROMs are only going to be available for a handful of devices, but don’t fret— the list is ever-growing and there’s a chance you will see your device added here at some point. Hit the jump to see the full list.
