Samsung Uses Twitter To Call Recent Samsung Galaxy S IV Rumor Bogus

You remember how we told you to take that whole Samsung Galaxy S IV rumor that surfaced yesterday? If you recall, we advised to our readers that they should take the rumor with a grain of salt and now it looks like we told you that for good reason. Samsung took to Twitter and confirmed the Korea Times claim of the next great superphone arriving at MWC 2013 utterly bogus. Here’s Samsung’s response which has been roughly translated:

Please note that some media reported speculation that the Galaxy S Ⅲ subsequent models will be released in a simple rumor is not true. … why spread these rumors?

So there you have it. We won’t see the next great Samsung superphone at MWC 2013, so life can go on and the major focus can be on the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II smartphones… for now.

Latest Reports Indicate Upcoming HTC “Endeavor C2″ Smartphone Is Possibly The Successor To The One X

Well friends, it looks like we’re about to see another HTC device arrive sometime later this year. While many of you are thinking this will likely be a brand-new device, it’s looking more and more like a refresh of a really good device already on the market. Reports are indicating the new device will be codenamed “Endeavor C2″ and will include a faster Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, better battery and urBeats headphones. Additional leaks include the upcoming body of the device being identical to existing HTC devices, which also includes the ability to use current accessories as opposed to launching new accessories. Sound a little familiar to you? Well it should— the original HTC One X smartphone was codenamed “Endeavor”, before its unveiling at MWC earlier in the year. All in all, this points to what looks to be a supercharged version of the One X that will be called the One X+ and similar to HTC’s strategy in the past with its Sensation and Sensation XE devices.

The device won’t skimp on software either. Stuff reports the “Endeavor C2″ will utilize HTC’s brand new ClearVoice technology to improve call quality and will also be the first phone to run HTC Watch 2, the latest version of HTC’s video-on-demand offering. Sounds like those two features will compliment the rumored Sense 4.1 and quite possibly, Jelly Bean mighty well upon the device’s release— which should be around the beginning of October in the U.K. if all holds up.

Try to contain your excitement there folks. Try to contain your excitement there.

Watch as the ASUS Padfone Gets its First Unboxing Video

I am not sure if you remember the ASUS Padfone, but it has been ‘in the making’ for an awful long time now. Initially announced over a year ago, we got a quick glimpse at the new revamped version of the kit at this year’s CTIA conference in Las Vegas and then again at MWC in Barcelona. Finally about to launch soon, our friends over at NetbookNews go their hands on the phone-tablet-dock combo a little early and decided to film an unboxing video for the whole world to enjoy. Jump past the break to see the whole kit and caboodle for yourself. It’s pretty sweet! Too bad it’s so damn expensive

Recent Galaxy Note 10.1 Benchmark Test Suggests Quad-Core Upgrade

May 5, 2012   //   by RobertMiller   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Recent Galaxy Note 10.1 Benchmark Test Suggests Quad Core Upgrade

It was last month that we heard that the reason for Galaxy Note 10.1 delay was for a nice little hardware bump, replacing its dual-core chip with the faster, more powerful quad-core Exynos 4412. Now we aren’t entirely positive that this is to be the case, but remember, a Samsung spokesperson said that the device would be entirely different than when it was announced at MWC so we have no reason to believe a quad-core jump wouldn’t be in favor.

To back up that theory, a new Galaxy Note 10.1 NenaMark benchmark test result shows a frame rate of 58.8 fps. This is a frame speed similar to the one that the Transformer Prime can produce, a device with a blazing fast quad-core processor. Just to make a comparison, the 1.4GHz dual-core Galaxy Tab 7.7 scores a 44fps and the Galaxy Note brings in 48fps. This is quite a large increase in speed and my speculation suggests it’s because a quad-core chip was used in this recent NenaMark test.

As it goes with any rumors or speculation, this Exynos 4412 idea should be taken with a grain of salt. It won’t be until we get official confirmation that we will for sure know that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be rocking a quad-core chip. Stay tuned…

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Specs And Launch Date Still Up In The Air

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Specs And Launch Date Still Up In The Air

We’re thinking the same thing you are, when the heck is this device going to be officially announced and what will really be under the hood when it’s released?  While word of the Galaxy Tab 2 series has finally broke with both release dates and pricing announced, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is still in PR limbo as we’ve yet to confirm a date for its release or whether or not the device will in fact launch with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Exynos SoC, as mentioned at MWC or the new quad-core demon of a SoC, the Exynos 4412.  At a press conference held yesterday, a spokesperson stated that there was no release date specified as of now and that it was possible the final product could be different than what was unveiled at MWC.  This isn’t the first time Sammy pulled a little switcheroo as they’ve done this with the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 almost a couple of years ago, revealing a much different piece of hardware than what was originally announced.  The comapany’s main goal was to “make a splash” at the event which Samsung believes it did flawlessly, however, we’ll have to wait and be patient for more details on the device.  So what’s our guess?  Not sure entirely but we’re leaning on the hope that Samsung is working on getting the much anticipated quad-core Exynos chipset under the hood before an official release.  And who knows, it’s possible we could see the device announced simultaneously with the Galaxy S III, where both devices could be the first to unveil the new SoC.  What do you think?  The comments section is yours for the taking.

LG Tries To Distract Us From The Optimus 4X By Working On Another Flagship Smartphone Called The D1L

LG Tries To Distract Us From The Optimus 4X By Working On Another Flagship Smartphone Called The D1L

Most of the major manufacturers have their flagship devices out in stores now or on their way (see exhibit A and exhibit B), but what about LG’s flagship device? Sure we’d heard about about the LG Optimus 4X back at MWC this year, but LG seems to have yet another flagship device in the works. The device called the D1L, shares similar features with the Optimus 4X such as a 4.7-inch screen with a 1280×720 resolution. However, unlike the Optimus 4X which features a quad-core processor, the D1L will feature the snappy dual-core Snapdragon S4 chip. No word on additional information on the device or when it will be released.

So what do you think gang? You guys excited for the D1L?

Panasonic Eluga drops March 29th in Japan, Europe in April

Panasonic Eluga drops March 29th in Japan, Europe in April

For those of you who didn’t catch the announcement of Panasonic’s Eluga at MWC, what we’ve got here is a 4.3″ device with a TI OMAP 4430, the very same of which resides inside the Motorola RAZR. From the hands on impression at MWC, however, it seems it may not be as fluid as the RAZR, despite the similarity. You’ll also find 1GB of RAM inside as well as 8GB of embedded storage. Unfortunately this one will ship with Gingerbread and a relatively small 1150mAh battery. It’s been a while since MWC, though, so maybe Panasonic has had time to retool the onboard software for enhanced performance. Plus it has dust and water resistance certification going for it. That’s pretty awesome, right? Expect the first wave of them to hit Japan in March, followed by Europe in April. Pricing and US availability are yet to be seen.

Huawei’s Ascend D Quad Not Shipping Until July?

Huawei’s Ascend D Quad Not Shipping Until July?

The highly anticipated Ascend D Quad from Huawei, announced at MWC, has been reported by Chinese website CNMO that the device won’t even start being massed produced until June with a shipping schedule of some time in July.  As Huawei’s first quad-core handset (1.2 GHz), this comes as sort of a bummer.  By the time this device begins to hit the market, it’s more than likely both HTC and Samsung will have a quad-core device already in the hands of consumers.  The One X and Galaxy S III launching before the Ascend D Quad doesn’t seem like the handset would even have a chance.  Lets hope there’s enough there to differentiate the device from its competition.  Maybe in the pricing department?  As far as specs go, expect Android 4.0, a 4.5-inch IPS HD display coming in at a 1280 x 720 res, WiFi, 8MP camera, HSPA+ 21, Dolby Mobile 3.0 Plus technology and a gig of RAM.  In addition, 8GB of internal storage, a MicroSD card slot and 1.3MP front facing camera will also be on-board.  Not too shabby in the spec dept, obviously.  Stay tuned as we dig a little deeper on the launch of the device.  Here’s to hoping Huawei can stay ahead of schedule.  Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Incredible 4G and Mysterious VAE_WX Device Get Benchmarked

Incredible 4G and Mysterious VAE WX Device Get Benchmarked

I don’t know if HTC knows about its own proclaimed Zero-to-Hero Strategy for 2012 because evidence points to the fact that they must have missed the memo. So far we’ve seen the announcement for the One X, S, and V launches but it appears that a few others are waiting in the wings for their own launches. This includes the Fireball-turned-Incredible 4G and a codenamed device only known as the VAE_WX.

As you folks know the Incredible 4G (HTC ADR6410) has recently gained Bluetooth and LTE certification to add to the WiFi certification it received before MWC this year. This phone, that’s supposed to see a release in April, will have a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and judging from the NenaMark2 benchmarks below it’s safe to say that the processor will be of a S4 Snapdragon variety. This is based off of the evidence of it being tested using the Qualcomm Adreno 225 GPU. It will also sport a 960 x 540 resolution display but there is no details on screen size.

Judging from the VAE_WX benchmarks it may be a mid to high-end smartphone. It’s powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor, which is a littler beefier than the one powering the Incredible 4G. Both appear to be running Android 4.0.3 and this device will have a 960 x 540 resolution as well. With a score like 58.2 it’s a safe bet that this device will be pretty stacked indeed.

But to be honest, that’s about as much as we know regarding these devices. As April gets closer we’ll probably start to see more information leaked or announced in regards to the 3rd iteration of the solid Incredible line. So as always, keep it locked here as we will keep you updated the moment we find out more. Stay tuned!!!!
