Yes folks, this post isn’t a flashback to a year ago. The HTC Thunderbolt is actually receiving the much elusive ICS update for the device. This update upgrades the Thunderbolt to Android 4.0.4 with Sense 3.6. Head to Settings > About phone > Software update to see if your update is ready.

Considering ICS came out almost a year and a half ago, I’d like to say it’s better late than never… But this is as late as you can get. Anyone still using this as their primary device?

Thanks, Josh!

The specs are in line with the rumors: 4 inch WVGA screen, 1.2 ghz dual-core processor, 5 megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel front-camera, and ICS running TouchWiz on top.
Verizon has announced they will start pushing out an update for Motorola DROID BIONIC devices on October 19th. The update includes Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Along with ICS and all the enhancements it will bring to users, Verizon is including some updates to apps like Amazon Kindle, GoToMeeting, Citrix Receiver, and their own My Verizon app. The update will remove the Mobile IM app and several stability and performance enhancements will be included. The update file will clock in at just over 368 MB in size. Users can try to initiate the update on their own by going to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates -> Download or they can wait to receive notification from Verizon that the update is available.

We often get the opportunity to report on all manner of snazzy apps released through the Google Play Store. Rarely do we see something seemingly mundane like a calendar app. That is probably because a calendar app is virtually assured of being a “stock” app on any smartphone, whether it be Google’s app or a manufacturer’s replacement to fit in with their overlay, like TouchWiz, Sense or Motoblur. Apparently Google believes some users may want to get their hands on the stock version, so they are making it available as a standalone app in the Google Play store.

This version is only compatible with Android 4.0.3 or later devices and according to Google, there are several known problems with HTC devices. If you are interested in experiencing a small bit of the pure Android experience via Google’s Calendar app, use one of the links below to download it from the Google Play Store.

Motorola Atrix 2 owners are rejoicing today because AT&T started rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich update. We were expecting this but there is no doubt Atrix 2 owners will be happy to ditch Gingerbread. This update brings ICS favorites like Face Unlock, swipe away notifications and tabbed browsing. The update also brings Motorola’s quick-launch lock screen which allows users to unlock their phone directly to the camera, phone dialer, text messaging or home screen. It is still unlikely that the Motorola Atrix 4G will get ICS despite the protests, but at least Motorola is making a step in the right direction with other phones.

A frustrated developer by the name of Julian Fernandes has taken it upon himself to bring fully functioning builds of ICS or Jelly Bean to owners who have been left out in the cold. The Update My Moto campaign has been initiated in hopes that Motorola will release a leak of what has already been completed, or at least a supported Tegra 2 kernel for Android 4.0, so that devs can put together feature filled custom ROMs for the disheartened community.

No, you don’t have to donate any money and you don’t have to picket outside Motorola’s corporate offices (though that would probably garner some attention).
Individuals of a certain age may remember a time when a Sony Walkman was the technological, gee-whiz gadget of its time that set the standard for other portable music players. While much has changed over the years, the spirit of the Sony Walkman lives on today in the Sony Walkman Player app. Like other manufacturer specific apps included on Android devices in an effort to differentiate themselves, the Walkman Player is limited to Sony devices like the Sony Xperia S, Xperia T, and Xperia V devices. That situation has changed thanks to XDA forum member Rizal Lovins.

Using a copy of the app he extracted from his own Xperia S, Rizal Lovins has figured out how to get the app to install and run other Ice Cream Sandwich devices that have been rooted. Some quirks are still being worked out, but for the most part users can enjoy the visualizations, equalizers, animations, and other features of the music player app.

For instructions on how to install the Walkman Player on your rooted ICS device, hit the source link below.

A new ROM labeled as I535VRALHD has leaked for Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III. This new ROM includes a new baseband radio that is supposed to improve 4G signal strength and includes several other improvements such as battery life. Sadly, the ROM is still ICS 4.0.4 and not a Jelly Bean build, but any improvement is still good nonetheless. If you’re interested in installing this onto your device then follow the instructions in the source link provided.

Also, let us know your experience with the new version and if you’ve noticed any noticeable improvements!
