Carbon Trust certification awarded to Samsung Galaxy S III and Ace Duo

 The Samsung Galaxy S III is a phone that was instantly hailed as one of the best phones on the market and that was before the Jelly Bean update. When you have the combination of great hardware engineering and imaginative software all the praise is well deserved, now the Galaxy S III is being honored for being environmentally friendly. The Galaxy S III along with the Samsung Ace Duo in Europe were awarded the Carbon Trust PAS 2050 certification. PAS 2050 certification is based on greenhouse emissions over a devices lifetime. To put this into additional perspective, the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note had also received this certification, so this adds to Samsung’s recent history of environmentally friendly phones. Samsung Galaxy Note II update brings multi-window support

We previously reported that some Samsung Galaxy Note II’s didn’t have the advertised multi-window support, but an update that is rolling out today will fix that. This will allow Galaxy Note II owners to split the 5.5″ screen in half and run two android apps at the same time. The original Galaxy Note had a similar feature, but it was limited to only Samsung apps. This time around there is support for not only Samsung apps but some Google apps as well as select third party apps such as Twitter. This update is version XXALIJ1 and it also includes a new baseband version of Chrome. The Galaxy Note II will be available in the states later this month.

Samsung to celebrate the U.S. launch of the Galaxy Note II on October 24

Samsung just sent us a “save the date” for an event on October 24th in New York City. The invitation clearly shows the S Pen, so we fully expect this to be some sort of launch party for the U.S. release of the Galaxy Note II. The original Galaxy Note sold more units than most expected, and the Galaxy Note II is supposed to triple that success. We will be live at the event so if there’s anything major to report we will let you know.

Samsung Officially Launches The Martian Pink Galaxy S III Smartphone

We knew there was a sexy new color on the way for the Galaxy S III smartphone, but now Samsung has made it officially official. Samsung has officially launched the limited-edition “Martian Pink” color variation of the Galaxy S III– it only plans on making just 100,000 units available for the general public. Here’s Samsung expressing its delight and excitement of its newest edition:

“The Martian pink Galaxy S III is refined and sensuous. With its distinctive style, we expect a great response from the younger generation and women.”

As of now, the limited-edition color can only be found in Korea across Korean wireless carriers. This means those of us out here Stateside won’t be able to own the unique color of the Galaxy S III… much like we weren’t able to enjoy the pink Galaxy S II or the pink Galaxy Note. It’s Official: The Samsung Galaxy Note II to land on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and U.S. Cellular in time for the holidays

We already kind of knew this was the case with the various leaks we’ve seen over the last few weeks, but Samsung just officially announced that the Galaxy Note II will be available in the U.S. soon. All five major carriers; AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and U.S. Cellular will carry the phablet and will be available in time for the holidays. That means by mid-November, but each carrier will most likely choose their own timeframe.

The U.S. version of the Galaxy Note II will be identical to the international version and the presser even states that we will get the 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor as well, which is very surprising. If you remember, the U.S. version of the Galaxy S III sported the Snapdragon S4 due to LTE compatibility.

When the new S Pen is removed from the Galaxy Note II, it automatically launches the S Pen menu, which opens a new home screen that allows one-touch access to most used S-Pen applications. Users can draw precise lines around the content to be cropped out, highlighted or copied into another application.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note confirmed, Jelly Bean already being tested

While T-Mobile may have been late to the game with the original Galaxy Note, it seems as though the carrier plans to step things up next time around. Sources with the inside scoop have confirmed that T-Mobile will indeed be receiving its own variant of the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The same report suggests Samsung is already in the process of testing Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Note II for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. As of right now, Samsung is testing build number T889UVALIC, which was compiled on Saturday. Furthermore, the firmware has leaked out and is now available for download, assuming you have one of the first SGH-T889 test units to actually run it. If not, well — at least you have a pretty good idea that the Note II will be making its way to all major US carriers.

Files From Sprint Server Show New Samsung Device Believed To Be The Galaxy Note 2

A major device may soon be destined for Sprint’s network. A leaked RDF file from Sprint’s servers show a device called the Samsung SPH-L900 that features a nice list of specs including: a Exynos 4412 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera and Android Jelly Bean running the device. Of course some of the specs we listed in this latest leaks are ones we expected since they match up with the leaked screenshots from AT&T’s Galaxy Note II.

The thing that was not in the file was the screen size. The larger screen was what made the Galaxy Note stand out from the crowd. The only listed specs about the screen was the 1280 x 720 display. So it is unclear if the smartphone is a bumped-up Galaxy S III smartphone or the Galaxy Note II as we suspect. Either way with all these features this phone will be able to compete with any other smartphone in the hardware department.

Samsung showed off the Galaxy Note 2 at IFA 2012 and it looks like a very strong sequel to the original. Samsung was focused on having the device available on more US wireless carriers. With all these features, the Galaxy Note II will have a highly anticipated launch sometime in the future Sprint and possibly a few others.

Original Samsung Galaxy Note to get Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III features via software update

With the launch of the Galaxy Note II just around the corner, the last thing we’d expect for the original Samsung Galaxy Note – besides a full 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade – is feature-rich update. However, an update is indeed rolling out today for the international version of the Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) packing a host of features and UI enhancements plucked straight from the Galaxy S III and Note II. The update is still based on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), however the updated features themselves are the stars of the show here.

International Note owners will now get to enjoy features like “Pop up Play” (mentioned in the Galaxy Note II link above), a Note II-style 3D gallery, the Galaxy S III launcher, and S Cloud contact backup just to highlight a few. This official update to version XXLRQ can be grabbed either over-the-air or through Kies for unlocked Galaxy Note devices in Germany. Other territories should follow suit with the update in the coming weeks.
