ASUS Transformer Prime unboxing and initial hands on review
Android tablets for 2011 were a disappointment. Of the many that were available, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and ASUS Transformer had to be the top ones. We’re hoping 2012 is going to be different for Android tablets and so far things are off to a great start with the latest from ASUS, the Transformer Prime. The Transformer Prime is the first Android device to feature the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA. The Transformer Prime promises console-like gaming which is what I think will really drive tablet sales in 2012.
Full specs include a 10.1-inch LED Super IPS+ (1280 x 800) display, Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera with f2.4 aperture lens and 1080p video recording, 1.2MP front camera, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, microSD slot for up to an additional 32GB, micro HDMI, SonicMaster sound technology, and 12 hours of battery life. A keyboard dock is also available that adds a USB 2.0 port and a full SD card reader. It also adds an additional 6 hours of battery life for a total of 18 hours of use between charges. It should also be noted that the Transformer Prime ships with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but Ice Cream Sandwich is promised. ASUS already has a proven track record for updates, so expect ICS to be available very soon.
We will do a full a review, but for now here is my unboxing and initial hands on.
