The long time tablet specialists have identified a perfect niche in the market and launched the Archos ChildPad, a device which they claim “can offer hours of entertainment for all ages, especially kids,” The ChildPad is a 7″, Android 4.0 ICS tablet powered by a 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. Archos has also created a brand new, child focused UI featuring big, bold colours and pre-loaded with entertainment, learning and puzzle applications especially for children. The tablet will also come preloaded with a ‘Kids App Store’ powered by AppsLib which currently contains over 10,000 applications designed for the younger mind. The ChildPad was designed according to strict CIPA and COPPA regulations and includes an advanced parental control filter deemed the most efficient in the market according to benchmarks.
The ChildPad is set to hit the shelves before the end of March and will be priced at only $129. With more than adequate technical specifications, a UI and features built to suit children and a price that seems right on point, it looks like Archos may well hit a home-run with this one.

In addition, ARCHOS has created a kid-friendly user interface with colored icons, home screen folders with direct access to games, entertainment, learning and puzzles and the top 28 kids’ apps pre-loaded including Angry Birds, Pig Rush and Flight Frenzy.
ARCHOS has also designed the Child Pad to comply with both CIPA and COPPA regulations, ensuring a safe tablet environment for kids and peace of mind for parents. The parental controls and safe web browsing is powered by Editions Profil, whose “Mobile Parental Filter” is ranked as the most efficient parental control software in worldwide benchmarks.
Availability & Price
The Child Pad will be available in stores starting the end of March with the recommended retail price of $129.
